Progressive Therapeutic Collective Responds to Lancet Journal Article on Gaza

Progressive Therapeutic Collective (PTC) unequivocally condemns the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people in Gaza by Israeli forces. The recent article published in The Lancet highlights the staggering toll of this conflict, with over 37,396 confirmed deaths and an estimated total death toll potentially exceeding 186,000 due to indirect causes.
The systematic extermination and relentless bombardment have not only decimated Gaza’s population but also obliterated its infrastructure, making data collection and humanitarian efforts increasingly challenging. The destruction of 35% of buildings in Gaza and the reliance on unreliable media sources and first responders for death tolls underscore the dire situation.
The Lancet article stresses the importance of accurate data collection despite these challenges, as accurate reporting is essential for historical accountability, legal requirements, and post-war recovery planning. The number of unidentified bodies and the significant percentage of buildings destroyed point to an even higher death toll, with many bodies likely still buried under rubble.
We call for immediate and decisive global action:
Ceasefire: An urgent and unconditional ceasefire to halt the bloodshed.
Humanitarian Aid: Unrestricted access for medical supplies, food, clean water, and essential resources.
Accountability: International oversight to document atrocities and ensure historical accountability.
The gravity of this humanitarian crisis demands a unified global response. We urge world leaders, international organizations, and all people of conscience to speak out against this atrocity and take concrete steps to end the violence and suffering in Gaza.
